Internships at EVH begin June 1st.

The primary duties of our interns include: daily treatment of all hospitalized cases, primary on call emergency duty, management of cases, assisting in surgery and daily record keeping for hospitalized patients.

This internship is fast paced and challenging. It is important to us that each intern has a positive experience and is able to learn hands on. Interns are encouraged to think on their feet and manage cases as much as possible. Interns will always have back up veterinarians on call with them and available to work up any case with them or to answer questions.

Senior veterinary students wishing to apply must send a letter of intent, resume and three letters of recommendation to the EVH clinic address, attention to Dr. Niblett or Dr. Underwood.

Acceptance is contingent upon successful completion of NAVLE and State Board Exam.

Externs:

Externs are accepted at any time of the year and students from any level of their veterinary training are considered. We strive to provide a quality experience for each extern. Students are encouraged to immerse themselves in the day-to-day workings of the clinic in order to get a good feel for how the hospital runs. An on-site apartment is available for those who need lodging and transportation to and from the airport can be arranged if necessary. The nearest airport is in Austin just 30 minutes away.

Visits or tours can be scheduled by calling the clinic at 512-285-3395 or by emailing Dr. Underwood at horsedoc2003@hotmail.com or Dr. Niblett at cniblettdvm@aol.com.
